Scholar Support Mentoring

What is Scholar Support Mentoring?

Scholar Support mentoring (previously HUB) is an outreach service for students in the VT Advantage program and for out-of-state students receiving a VT Scholars award. We are here to support these students’ academic and financial goals and celebrate their achievements while they are pursuing their education at Virginia Tech.

This is not a program that students apply to join. Students are automatically assigned to the Scholar Support mentoring program. We will reach out to you via Navigate with invitations to participate in our programing if you qualify. This program is a collaboration between the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid at Virginia Tech.

What are the benefits of Scholarship Support?

Opportunities to meet with Scholar Support staff and mentors! Scholar Support student mentors are current Virginia Tech students who are here to help you understand financial aid and scholarship requirements and serve as a resource to encourage your academic achievement. Mentors do not act as academic advisors, but they are here to assist your success.

Access to the Scholar Support Canvas site, which includes information about financial aid and scholarship requirements, frequently asked questions, and helpful resources for academic, personal, and professional development.

Reminders about important dates and deadlines that keep you on track with financial aid, scholarship, and academic requirements. We will send emails, texts, and post announcements on our Canvas site to help you stay informed and ahead of deadlines.

Invitations to participate in exclusive Scholar Support events. We will let you know when we are offering workshops to enhance your academic and professional growth and fun events to help you celebrate your achievements!
