How to drop classes

Before dropping a course, there are a few important reminders you will want to consider:

  1. If you are looking to switch a course (drop a course and add a different course instead), you may want to use the “swap this with” feature. Please review our page “Making a Change to your Schedule” for instructions on this process.

  4. Before making any changes to your schedule, we recommend checking with your academic advisor to review how dropping this course may impact your progress toward degree.

How to Drop a Course:

  1. Locate your Primary Cart in Hokie Registration
  2. Select the course you wish to drop
  3. Select the orange “drop” button
  4. Confirm the course you want to drop has a red dash icon (and that courses you do NOT wish to drop do not have the icon)
  5. Select “Go to Course Selection”
  6. Make sure the checkbox to the right of the course you want to drop is selected. Deselect any checkboxes for courses where you do not want a change to occur.
  7. Click Submit Courses
  8. If the drop was successful, a green checkmark will appear with the text “this course has been removed from your schedule”. If the drop was unsuccessful, a red x will appear with details describing why the drop was unsuccessful.
