How to drop classes
Before dropping a course, there are a few important reminders you will want to consider:
- If you are looking to switch a course (drop a course and add a different course instead), you may want to use the “swap this with” feature. Please review our page “Making a Change to your Schedule” for instructions on this process.

- Before dropping a course, double check any financial aid you may receive to determine if dropping the course will impact your aid. You can connect with the

How to Drop a Course:
- Locate your Primary Cart in Hokie Registration
- Select the course you wish to drop
- Select the orange “drop” button
- Confirm the course you want to drop has a red dash icon (and that courses you do NOT wish to drop do not have the icon)
- Select “Go to Course Selection”
- Make sure the checkbox to the right of the course you want to drop is selected. Deselect any checkboxes for courses where you do not want a change to occur.
- Click Submit Courses
- If the drop was successful, a green checkmark will appear with the text “this course has been removed from your schedule”. If the drop was unsuccessful, a red x will appear with details describing why the drop was unsuccessful.
